Il potente signore delle Tenebre, amante del buio e della notte eterna, adorato e servito da orrende e malvage creature, vuole conquistare la terra e far scomparire per sempre la luce e il bene. Incarica per il progetto Blix, un maligno folletto che con due fedelissimi si reca sulla terra, esattamente in un bosco incantato inondato di sole, dove regna la pace e la serenità. In questo mondo senza ombre vivono Jack, uno strano ragazzo silvestre, e una bella principessa, Lili, che ama sia quell'atmosfera celestiale sia il giovane. Questi, per farle piacere, le mostra due magnifici unicorni bianchi che con la loro presenza garantiscono il perdurare del bene e della luce sulla terra. Lili vuole avvicinarsi agli splendidi animali, ma Blix, che è in agguato, approfitta del momento e colpisce a morte la bestia. E' la fine: le tenebre piombano inesorabili sul mondo: Jack viene trascinato via dal luogo, Lili rimane sola, terrorizzata in balia di se stessa. E' catturata dalle malvage creature insieme all'unicorno sopravvissuto e condotta in presenza del terrificante Tenebra. Costui si invaghisce di lei e vuole farne la sua sposa: è sicuro ormai di essere il padrone del mondo. Jack intanto, aiutato da Gump, un folletto buono, dai suoi amici e da una graziosa farfalla-fata, Oona, riesce a scendere nel regno delle tenebre. Dopo peripezie di ogni genere, lotte, trabocchetti e furberie ha la meglio sul terribile signore delle Tenebre e sui suoi orripilanti sudditi. Torna la pace e la luce sulla terra: i due unicorni sono di nuovo in vita e i due giovani Jack e Lili possono finalmente amarsi senza alcun timore..
